When A Soldier Comes Home
2009-11-15T14:09:00.000-08:00
I Spent A Year-Scared To Death
My Son Wouldn't Come Home, This was sent
to me, It needed a permanent Place.
I understood-I hope you do to.

When a soldier comes home, he finds
it hard......to listen
to his son whine about being bored.

....to keep a straight face when
people complain about potholes.

to be tolerant of people who complain
about the hassle of getting ready for work.

..to be understanding when a co-worker
complains about a bad night's sleep.

..to be  silent when people pray to God for a new car.

....to control his panic when his
wife tells him he needs to drive slower.

..to be compassionate when a businessman expresses a fear of flying.

....to keep from laughing when anxious
parents say they're afraid to

send their kids off to summer camp.

....to keep from ridiculing someone
who complains about hot weather.

....to remain calm when his daughter
complains about having to walk the dog.

.....to be civil to people who complain
about their jobs.

.....to just walk away when someone
says they only get two weeks of vacation a year.

....to be forgiving when someone says
how hard it is to have a new baby in the house.

The only thing harder

 than being a Soldier...

Is loving one.

When A Soldier Comes Home-Be Grateful

What We Do-Is Not Who We Are
2009-11-03T14:31:00.000-08:00
When we take our first breath, there is shock. Suddenly life is real. We feel pain, sorrow, happiness, joy. A smile makes our bodies tingle in ways we cannot explain. We grow and learn. Our minds open to the potential of what can be.

As we progress through our lives, some find a calling. A work which intrigues and excites us. The path stays steady until we can no longer work or function well. Others take what we must. We spend ours days toiling because we do not know what else to do.  In our world we all socially interact in some fashion. Family gatherings at one end. Conferences or meetings at the other. We as people start defining our worth and value by what we do. Segregation sets in. Some start to define others abilities by there "occupation". He is a clerk-He will not understand. That man hauls garbage-he is low. This man is a doctor, he saves lives, and he is high in the realm of life.
A day or so ago, I was waiting for my beautiful and talented wife, while she was having her nails done. A bit bored, I decided to go check out some of the local stores. I walked into a furniture store, beds, futtons etc. The man at the register asked if he could help me. I said no not really. I am looking. He had some truly interesting fractals on the wall behind him. I asked him if he drew them. They looked hand drawn. He replied. Yes I did. And said I am a physicist. I was a bit shocked. But started asking him questions as he detailed some of what he had learned in life. In less than 5 minutes this man who sold beds to earn a living detailed to me in easy and understandable language-how the universe is infinite. How space would need to be bent in order to travel the universe. How and when time would stand still at the speed of light, and why travel at that speed was impossible. I was awed by how easily I could understand what he was telling me, and how truly brilliant he really was. On occasion in talking with certain people they came to realize, just how intelligent I have grown to be. I sell beer for a living right now. I have done many things in my life, all for the almighty dollar. Some jobs where chosen for a reason. Others out of necessity. My current job was chosen because over time in working with "things" I had lost touch with people. I found myself regressing inward. Unable to enjoy or find interest with people anymore. I had realized that the true happiness and joy I find comes from interacting with people. That what goes on inside me no matter how high the level, could not make me happy as a social creature. So I took a form of work where I would be forced to regain what I needed as a person. And to continue to grow as an individual. It has been a wonderful experience. I have learned to make people laugh again. To help them find the simple pleasures of a small but intimate conversation about life or its meaning. What I need as a living breathing creature is not always more money-Or more respect. Sometimes it can be as simple as talking to someone who makes me smile or laugh. When you meet someone for the first time. Do not assume that they will not understand you or have nothing to offer based on what they do or how they are dressed-or what they might appear to be. Give them a chance, open your mind to the possibility that some people have more value than gold. That what they DO is not really who they are.

Retire at 70?-it won't work
2009-09-17T18:53:00.000-07:00

Social security is running out of money. The baby boomers are starting to hit the system.
We are in a terrible economy. The solution proposed-raise retirement to 70.
1-over half of my friends have died before that age.
2-I was victimized by age discrimination at 52-first question I was asked-How old are you-Click
3-What jobs exactly will there be for 70 year olds?-We can't employ younger people right now.
4-At 55 I hurt everyday-I would imagine that if I live to be 70-I will hurt much more.
5-Even if required to work-I will probably refuse-and just find a quiet place to let go.

We elect and employ independantly wealthy people to create laws and "solutions" to problems.
But how can someone make a good choice-when they have never had to work a "real" job like ordinary people at the age which is being considered. There just are not enough "desk jobs" to go around.

The real solution is to force our children to watch out for us when we become old. Just like it is done in most of the rest of the world.-out of love.
Something we lack enough of in "It's All About Me"-America.

The Mindless Owners Of Social Networks
2009-07-23T12:59:00.001-07:00

I am a member of countless social networks, I participate on all of them.
Each has it's own unique potential. Some offer cross network slideshows or movie hosting.
Some offer cross network music players. Some offer lots of open network html potential which allows for excellent creative control and ability. Each has it's own unique benefits.
But MySpace and Facebook automatically reject ANY url or embed link to Yuwie. Yuwie rejects links to MySpace. So far only the Blog sites seem to have unfettered access to any social network as a host for raw material. The net was founded on the principle of unfettered access to information.
I create across a wide spectrum of web hosts. I want to share my efforts and work with as many people as I can. I make very little on the internet. I create and promote in the hopes that I might touch a mind, open a door. Help create a better world for some. But the mindless and selfish attitude that social network owners have makes that darn near impossible. They are hurting themselves and their users when they use statements for rejection like-our users have found this content objectionable. Like people actually voted to stop content-even though they do not know what it is. Automatic url rejection. If people are to enjoy the web they need unrestrained access to what makes it special. When those of us who are internet savy cannot even post a link because it is a "competitor" than what is the point?. It always seems to be protect my market share at any cost, even though I as a user participate on them all. Maybe I should just stop using all of your "systems". Since you do not give me the courtesy of trying to spread something GOOD.

I am all Giggly
2009-07-22T01:16:00.000-07:00
Aw gee-California will have to make cuts:
I lived there for over 30 years. It was nice in the late 70's. Some undeveloped land. Reasonable prices and rents. When I left, a dumpy 1 bedroom apartment in Lancaster went for $600 a month.
Lancaster is some 90 miles from downtown L.A. in the middle of a desert. Rents in the San Fernando valley, Hollywood etc where so astronomical that whole families where living in 1 and 2 bedroom places. Pay scales for the lower end folk were near or at minimum wage but rents so high workers had trouble finding places to live. Water was scarce already-growing even more so now.
Finding parking is a joke-fees at the local lots-$50 a day? Please. About the same as what some workers make. High State taxes that seem to cover everything except food. Astronomical government fees for everything. House and property values increasing by as much as $60,000 in one year?
Only an insane mind would wonder why they are broke.
I am happy; this economic crisis was long over due. Unmitigated greed has finally bit the beautiful people in the ass. I hope it lasts

Your Absolutely Right!
2009-06-21T21:42:00.000-07:00

When I wander the web, I tend to start reading the comments left by people about various issues. Sometimes I leave a comment. But it never ceases to amaze me how many people CHOOSE to deny what seems obvious. We still have large numbers of people who say-Global warming is a crock. They cite marginal evidence to support there opinion. Using fringe science and observation to support there desire to maintain the status quo. What is gained by this head in the sand kind of thinking?.

I decided the same kind of thinking that makes people not lock there doors at night, not lock there car, not take the hand of a small child near a busy intersection. Prevention and solution require real work, investments made, and real sacrifices. If I tell you that you cannot drive your car for a week because of global warming it is inconvient. I see individuals EVERY DAY who will get in there car, and then drive 2 blocks to buy a $1.39 soda. They easily could have walked. Or even better yet gone without the calorie laden soda. Instead they have in there heads that the NEED for a quick sugar fix far out weighs the concern about global warming, or the NEED to conserve dwindling resources.

We are bombarded with advertising trying to create desire and need out of things which are at best-optional toys to maintain our interest in life. To entertain us in the later non work hours. We create a need for things which no one really needs.

As wonderful as unrestrained capitalism has been, it IS destroying the planet. Look at the ocean pollution, the dwindling fisheries, the increasing levels of extinction, the fresh water pollution, the increasing levels of desertification. The list goes on and on for an even semi aware individual. All backed up by observation and measurement. Yet many still deny anything is wrong. Nothing bad is really happening-because I REALLY need a candy bar.

There is much to be said about moderation, conservation, NON WASTE.

It one day might save my grandchild from a life of TRUE MISERY.

If everyone in america gave up just one item in the coming year-it would make a difference.

256 million pieces of plastic junk-Takes alot of oil, alot of space, and emits alot of pollution.

Think about it-Please?

Open Mind
2009-06-16T10:56:00.001-07:00
Friendship is typically based on shared values and ideals. But friendship is a state in constant flux. Friends are lost, new ones then are found. Some shun friendship entirely, out of fear of being used or hurt. The one mental state which can have lasting and long term effect is that of acceptance. We do not have to call someone friend to accept who and what they are without reservation. I feel that it is far more important to learn to have an open mind and open heart. A million friends might make one feel better. But truly accepting others will have consequences which last centuries.
