Disturbing Trend - Commercial Use of Yuwie
Greetings my Yuwie Family!

Tonight I would like to get your take on the alarming (and escalating) trend I've noticed of Yuwie members who are either knowingly or unknowingly 'advertising' their various offers by messaging, posting on their blogs/pages, starting 'clubs' that are no less than flagrant advertisements for their various products and 'opportunities', etc. - and how this may come to affect Yuwie's current and prospective commercial advertiser dollars and with it our Yuwie member future earnings.

I am sure anyone who's been an active member for even a short while have noticed at least an example or two of the above.  How long before the 'paying' advertisers notice this trend as well?

What the members who are skirting the TOS are doing may not even realize the potential harm this could bring to our community as a whole, let alone that they may be putting their own membership (and future earnings) at risk with this behavior.

Yuwie Terms Of Service state in part:

"10. Non-commercial Use by Members. The Yuwie Services are for the personal use of Members only and may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by Yuwie.com. Illegal and/or unauthorized use of the Yuwie Services, including collecting usernames and/or email addresses of Members by electronic or other means for the purpose of sending unsolicited email or unauthorized framing of or linking to the Yuwie Website is prohibited. Commercial advertisements, affiliate links, and other forms of solicitation may be removed from Member profiles without notice and may result in termination of Membership privileges. Appropriate legal action will be taken for any illegal or unauthorized use of the Yuwie Services."

http://ww2.yuwie.com/policy/tos.asp

I have a question about this as well - what happens to the member group of an individual who was to have their membership terminated, whatever the reason and how many tiers down?  Will  they be lost to the sponsor as well - who happened to bring the offending member into Yuwie?  That would truly be a shame for those who work at building their Yuwie groups.

In closing, I would like to state that at this point I have not mentioned these concerns to anyone else or the 'offending' members whose questionable promotions I've run across here, and I certainly do not want members who read this to become 'censors' of other members here - that would be up to the Yuwie TOS team, but if you share any of the concerns I've mentioned above and would like to try to help our own sponsored member groups keep from straying to close to breaking the TOS - you are welcome to direct them here to this discussion and maybe we can keep them from losing their Yuwie membership before it's too late.

If I am anywhere near correct in my judgement of the Yuwie opportunity that this will soon become an internet phenomena, and in doing so have a huge impact on a lot of member's bank balances - I would feel awful if someone already here at the virtual start of this wouldn't be able to share in the success because of something so simple to correct!

Thank you,
John3

Hi John,
I absolutely agree with you.
People that advertise these sites just do not see the big picture with Yuwie or they would stay focused.

They think if they are in multiple opportunities they will make that much more money.
The mind cannot hold two thoughts at one time. They will use all of their energy promoting this, then that and finally give up when they find they are getting nowhere.

Thanks All for your input!

Missa, that is a great post to educate our members in how to advertise other opportunities on Yuwie and still stay on the right side of the TOS.

I appreciate also that you would pass this blog topic along, I mentioned it in one club and the notice board but I really hoped someone thoughtful like you would read it and pass it on for me to reach that many more who could use the help.

If we can save someone from losing their membership needlessly then it's all been worth it.

The sad part is they run that risk with NO reward, those blatant ads don't work anyway. It's so much easier and more productive to leave a trail of breadcrumbs and if the prospect follows it and finally sees what you have for them, they're in a different frame-of-mind and much more likely to take action.

Thank you so much for posting this! I never knew that you weren't aloud to post your referral link or that you weren't aloud to advertiser. I only did it once but I will defiantly stop it now.

Thanks again, Misha

I had my profile shut down about a week after I started for starting a gas saving club.

great blog and I have wondered about this -I am not sure if I am advertising by having my other sites listed in my blog and I will follow up on this cause ?I feel the same way about being asked to join this or that - it really is not fun .I get several invites to freindswin and other sites .I have not asked for this info so it must be spam.

thanks for looking out for us all john-I seen oldbuddies post and will copy it to all my freinds

I emailed Yuwie about posting links in our blogs and on our profile, and this is what they sent back to me:

"Yes, that's fine. As long as the whole point of your profile isn't to advertise other sites."

John, excellent post. To add to it furthur and answer your questions about what happened when one is banned, etc. I read in a club
"If a user gets banned, their sponsor still gets credit for all their referrals, but we don't actually 'bump' all of those members up. So, if someone on your level 4 gets banned, all of their referrals stay on your level 5, etc."

You have given good information for us all to think about John.

Thanks!

My feelings also. I see this going on all of the time, and I don't know why people think that they will get anything out of it. It truly isn't worth the risk, and I doubt that they will see any benefits from it.

Not only Profile, blog pages.........think about the clubs! each day many clubs and many members are using their clubs for their own advertising purpose.
some ppl only create clubs but not a single post has been done.

any way i think y-guys once warn the bloggers who are using ads in their profile pages.

Nice post Mr.John

I hadn't thought of this...

I posted in a blog about a company who's products I like that are Earth Friendly-tho I have no affiliation with them in any manner-just like their stuff.

Guess I should take it down.

I have a question...I recently added a site for games named prizee on my site i thought that it will be fun for my friends to see the site. The site is put with a banner.will this endanger my profile. Is just something for my friends. It is an advertising method but its not so negative as other commercial sites. What do you think I should do?Delete it?
Reply | 9/17/2007 4:30:16 PM
Hi Gabriel!

Thanks for posting on my blog!

I looked into your Prizee banner (site), but am not familiar with the company so I shouldn't really give you advice on it. However - having said that, I doubt that it would lead to any problems with Yuwie unless you made the focus of your Yuwie page about Prizee and gaining referrals to it.

Get what I mean?

Good Luck and
Much Success in '07

umm I have given this some thought and I still can't decide where I stand on the one hand I can see the point old buddy and many others make. But then I ask myself who is resonsible for Yuwies growth it's members. If people want to join and network together share knowledge and try and selll products why not.
I mean the bigger Yuwie grows surely many more advertisers will want to advertise on it. and if people want to change there Yuwie page into a massive ad campaign (overstating the case here) surey the majority of people who want nothing to do with them can just block them as friends.
I tthink for Yuwie to just delete them with no warning and totally waste all the effort they may have put forth building a downline is a bit harsh. I mean surely they could warn someone to take certain things of there site
before they finish them off forever.
I would like to set a poll question here how many people reading this hands on heart can say they actually read the terms of service. Tos are writeen so boringnly and use such jargon like langauge that most people I know start reading them then go yeah all right then where do I click to accept the terms..
